Each cell had a heijunka board, a standard tool for the time, listing the names of various operations. The cell coach from each team would then move magnetized shop orders according to its current progression.
By today’s standards, this method is far outdated, but an internal software developer was able to take this initial concept and customize a scheduling program, set in real time, based on this process. Everyone at HUI has access to ShopFloor, which eliminates the need to make a call or physically check the progress of a shop order. This way, customers receive a more accurate report on the progress of their product.
